My inspiration for this project was based on my endless love for my grandfather who changed his life drastically and retired from his job as a mechanical engineer, made the decision to become a farmer. The love my grandfather had towards my grandmother is something that inspired me greatly in my life and art. The care, commitment, and passion he has shown to nature and the animals on his farm is admirable.
I wanted to expand on the style of documentary photography, which is largely used to portray pain and suffering in glorified black and white or heavily edited images, to find excitement and show appreciation to a family member.
By documenting my grandfather’s everyday routine, I was able to witness how much joy there can be in simple everyday life. The photographs create a personal connection between the viewer and the subject, a family member who is a regular person, seen doing day-to-day tasks and being happy and fulfilled.
