I initially found inspiration from a picture of clouds at sunrise that I had taken in Mallorca, Spain. I saw the potential in these images and felt that I could take them further by experimenting with different materials.

Ultimately, I thought it would be interesting to recreate the pictures using pastels. When looking at the drawings a sense of serenity, relief and expression comes to mind, the ‘clouds’ appear to be moving endlessly. 

This interpretation gave me the idea to translate the flat image into a performance. This led to my final interpretation, the glowing fabrics accompanied by a gymnast to translate the malleable nature of the clouds which references back to the original photograph taken.
